Pati (Jamaican Curried Meat Patty)

Ingredients
2 flour
1/2 cup(s) lard or shortening
1 curry powder
1/2 salt
cold water
1/2 ground beef
1 chopped onion
2 chiles panameños (Panamanian hot peppers)
1 thyme sprig
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
  1. For the dough: mix flour, lard, curry and salt. Add cold water until a smooth dough forms. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. For the filling: sauté the onion, add the meat, thyme, Panamanian pepper, salt and pepper. Cook until the meat is well cooked.
  3. Roll out the dough, cut circles, fill with the meat, fold and seal the edges with a fork.
  4. Bake at 180°C for 25-30 minutes until golden.
