Queque de Banano (Banana Cake - Traditional Style)

Ingredients
100 sifted flour
100 sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 baking powder
1 pinch salt
100 melted butter
12 ripe creole bananas
2 shots of rum
orange peel
3 sugar (for syrup)
5 water (for syrup)
1/2 grated orange peel (for syrup)
Directions
  1. Add to the flour the salt, sugar, baking powder, eggs and mix everything with the mixer.
  2. Add half of the melted butter.
  3. In a pan, cook the sliced bananas with half the butter, then add a shot of rum and flambé (light it on fire).
  4. Set aside and add to the mixture along with the other shot of rum, also the orange syrup and add the desired amount.
  5. For the syrup: Cook over low heat until you get a syrup consistency.
  6. Set the oven to 350°C.
  7. Grease the mold, flour it and pour in the preparation.
  8. Cook 10 minutes, then sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the cake.
  9. Cook for 10 more minutes.
  10. To test if it's cooked, insert a knife and if it comes out clean, your cake is ready.
