Sopa de Jaibas (Crab Soup)

Ingredients
1/2 jaibas (crabs)
1/2 fish fillet cubed
1 onion
1 sweet bell pepper
2 coconuts
2 chiles panameños (Panamanian hot peppers)
yuca (cassava)
green banana
ñame (yam)
tiquizque (malanga/taro root)
salt
black pepper
curry powder
breadfruit
Directions
  1. Wash the crabs and cook with water, 1 Panamanian pepper and salt.
  2. Peel and grate the coconut, add very hot water at the end and let rest for half an hour. To extract the milk, strain with a cloth, squeezing the pulp well to extract all its content.
  3. After extracting the milk, add it to the crabs with the water. When it starts to boil, add the curry, pepper, salt, onion, sweet pepper and the vegetables in chunks. When they are soft, add the fish and the other Panamanian pepper, leave for five more minutes.
  4. Serve accompanied with fried breadfruit seasoned with salt and curry.
  5. Delicious and very nutritious.
